This site originally started as a “hiking journal” in 2007.  In 2011 it crashed and rather than restore it, I decided to remake OHJ as a ‘blog’, about Ouachita Mountain hiking, nature sound recording, photography (including video).

The original concept remains; to post about places, hikes, sounds, photos, videos, etc. relating to wild places in the Ouachita Mountains on the assumption that there are curious and interested hikers out there.

The original photo gallery didn’t crash and now has over 1,000 photos of hikes and wild places in the Ouachita Mountains.
