Site almost 6 months old... so what's here?
It's almost been 6 months since this site was started. So... what's here? So far, the main unique feature of this website is the growing collection of photos of the Ouachita Trail and other hikes in the Ouachita's. If you search "Ouachita Trail", you'll turn up scattered photos here and there, but not concentrated on one site. So far, OHJ has over 310 photos in 15 albums and the collection is growing! The main deficiency right now is that its all concentrated on the east end of the Ouachitas. I hope to be able to get out west more during the coming year. So far, the site has gotten a lot of positive comments from visitors, including 2 that suggested opening a forum. Anyway... suggestions are welcome... and thanks for visiting. -jc

Reaching Trailhead: Trailhead is on highway 10 at the south end of the bridge crossing Lake Maumelle. There is a parking area and park with picnic tables, etc.
NEW - OT hikes near highway 300, east end
Just added 2 hikes in section 10 of the OT (June 22nd and 23rd). This is the hot season for hiking here, although there are remarkably few ticks and mosquitoes for this time of year. The June 22 hike has photos in the gallery. The June 23 hike has no photos because it was a rain/thunderstorm hike; too wet to use the camera. - jc
