This is another enchanted place on the Big Maumelle River. Spring colors here in the Ouachitas really are a striking, bright yellow-green, as shown. The forest canopy closes out sunlight anyway and on this cloudy day the light was even more suffused. The combination of the thick green carpet of mosses/lichens, the cypress trees and knees, the fast flowing dark water and the sound of the rapids all synchronized to create a special atmosphere. Beautiful!
