OT mile 177.2 - Crystal Prong Creek crossing on the Ouachita Trail
Crystal Prong Creek crossing of Ouachita Trail, where the bridge used to be. SB on the left, KZ on the rocks across the stream. This can be a wet or even impossible crossing after heavy rain. The old "bridge" was a steel double "I-beam" that spanned the entire creek; it must (literally) weigh a ton (or more). A few years ago it simply washed away after a thunderstorm, taking one of the concrete anchor points with it. The whole thing is still visible under the water about 30 feet down stream of the crossing.
